Jonathan's Bio
Thanks for visiting our website. My name is Jonathan Greenberg and I am the youngest brother in bon Voyager. Being able to perform and change people's lives with the music that we create has really had a large influence on me throughout the years.
I was born on July 27, 1987 in Belgium, a small country in between Holland, France and Germany. My older brothers were born in countries ranging from India to the US.
I grew up with music always being a major facet of my everyday life. Whenever I came home from school, I would always hear music being played or sung by my older brothers who had a group of their own. It was a neat experience for me as I later joined my older brothers when they went to sing at orphanages and retirement homes.. It became commonplace for me to look forward to the weekends when we would make trips to different parts of Europe, performing in places ranging from festivals, orphanages, homeless shelters to prisons.
Over the years that followed my dad taught me to play the guitar, I learned to love the rich sound that a well played guitar would produce. It has now become a major factor in my life and daily routine as well as a prominent feature at many of our live performances.
When we arrived in America in 1998, everything was different. There was a sort of different feel as we began to be more serious about our craft and hone our talents on a professional level. Little did we realize then the years that it would take. But we just kept our mind on what we were accomplishing for the moment and how our music and our lives were affecting others..
We really started to focus in on making new songs and eventually our first album was released which helped get us started in the music business. I also wrote a song myself for the very first time at the age of 13 called “I’ll be Near” which hopefully you will hear on the next album.
For the first few years, my brothers and I were home-schooled so we could get acquainted with the education system in the U.S. After a while, I felt like there wasn’t a lot of opportunity to meet new people so JP and I enrolled in high-school where I am now finishing up my senior year. I am an avid baseball and basketball fan. I play both sports a lot and am on local teams.
While going to school, and not practicing or playing ball, I bus tables at a local restaurant, work as a cashier at a supermarket, and am working on finishing the second album with my brothers. My musical influences are: The Beatles, The Beegees, Coldplay, Vertical Horizon and Three Doors Down. Being in bon Voyager has been a great experience for me so far, and I am really looking forward to the possibilities that are ahead.
Thanks for all of your support, I know we would not have made it this far without tremendous support from people who truly believed in us.
One thing I’d say , after having done this: If you have a dream, don’t be afraid to go for it. Don’t listen to the negative reactions of others either, or let them discourage you, but keep persisting no matter what, and fight to make it a reality!
